And now to continue the royal lineage, the promotion is fittingly reviving the event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as the WWE King and Queen of the Ring premium live event on May 25, 2024.

Over the past few weeks, competitors in both the King and Queen brackets have been resiliently battling to get to the finals of their respective tournaments. Unfortunately, a number of injuries have plagued the lineup this year and a number of serious contenders such as “The All-Mighty” Bobby Lashley, Asuka of Damage CTRL, and former tournament winners Xavier Woods and Zelina Vega were forced to sit on the sidelines. Although with open slots come fresh opportunities for other WWE Superstars.

The 2024 edition of King and Queen of the Ring has been a rare tournament in WWE history that has featured mostly very good to great wrestling matches. Those two tournaments conclude at the King and Queen of the Ring premium live event from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

The men's final sees former intercontinental champion Gunther taking on Randy Orton. For the women, it's scrappy underdog and newcomer to the WWE main roster Lyra Valkyria facing off with Nia Jax.

In addition to crowning a new King and Queen of the Ring, the event features several championship contests including the major showdown between undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes and United States champ Logan Paul. Only Rhodes' title will be on the line in the champion vs. champion battle.

The next set of royalty in wrestling will be determined Saturday with the 2024 King and Queen of the Ring. The premium live event in Saudi Arabia will culminate with one male and one female superstar placing a crown on their heads and earning a championship opportunity at SummerSlam.

King and Queen won’t be the only titles up for grabs on Saturday. Cody Rhodes will put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Logan Paul; the fierce rivalry for the Women’s World Championship continues; and a triple threat match takes place for the Intercontinental Championship.

Previously, 11 men's events have been staged, most recently in 2015, while the one and only Queen's Crown event went ahead in 2021 and has been rebranded as part of this new premium live event in the Middle East.

The King and Queen of the Ring tournaments have played out over Raw and SmackDown episodes in May, with Gunther emerging as the first finalist. He will face the victor of Randy Orton versus Tama Tonga.

Lyra Valkyria is the first through to the Queen's final. She will take on the winner of Nia Jax and Bianca Belair. Also on the card, Cody Rhodes will face Logan Paul for the Undisputed WWE Championship, while Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan collide for the Women's World Championship.

Rhodes dethroned Roman Reigns of the now-undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania, ending an almost four-year reign. He has been credited with starting a new era in WWE. However, Paul, the WWE United States Champion, believes he’s the reason for WWE’s success. The social media star got a match with Rhodes at the King and Queen of the Ring event, with both titles on the line.

A Paul win would result in the internet exploding. Who will call themselves champion by the end of the night?

The event in Saudi Arabia, part of WWE’s partnership with the Ministry of Sport, will also feature the crowning of the King and Queen of the Ring. A WWE tradition since 1985, it would go from one-night tournament PPV events to being featured on RAW or SmackDown. Known to elevate wrestlers' careers, who will be crowned WWE’s next big stars?
